The 2024 Rex proclamation, by New Orleans artist and LPO musician Patti Adams, contains a quote of Lafcadio Hearn that was printed in the Daily City Item in 1878. Motifs of Hearn's two lives in Japan and New Orleans adorn the sides. The ducal medals at the top are from the years that Hearn worked in New Orleans.
